There are three manuals in the house. One giving a very comprehensive list of local restaurants and those further afield, for instance in Avignon, Arles and St Remy de Provence.

Another one lists all the local markets within a reasonable distance, their specialities and the days on which they are open. This also includes the times at which you’ll find local shops open or closed! This can otherwise be very challenging. It also lists local activities for adults and children, such as tennis, canoeing, kayaking, ballooning, horse-riding and much more. Also there are details of wine tours along the Cote du Rhone, music festivals and lots of maps that are specifically intended for walkers and cyclists.

The third manual lists all emergency numbers, fire brigade, police and ambulance. It also contains the details of local doctors, dentist, chiropractor and hospital, and of course numbers for staff who can be contacted day or night should there be any problems.

Christophe Rossi, the guardian, is not only a gardener but a keep-fit instructor and a trained bodyguard! He has his own studio where he is happy to stay overnight if guests prefer it. However, he only lives in Apt, less than 10 minutes from Les Pres Blancs.
